Power Options

The COBRA 18M firing module offers two sources of power.

9V - Supports 3 x Replacement 9V Alkaline Batteries (Energizer Only) batteries supporting up to 22 hours of active operation and 66 hours of sleep mode operation*. The 1P battery powers the system operations such as the radio, 7-segment display, and LEDs. The two 2P batteries are responsible solely for firing cues. By having a separate power source for firing cues, you will always fire at full power, even if the operational battery voltage goes down.

LiPo - Includes an internal 900mAh LiPo battery with an external charge port and charge LED indicator. The battery supports up to 36 hours of active operation and 108 hours of sleep mode operation*.

External 12-24V DC power input - This battery option is a good fit for permanent installations, such as theme parks or in cases of extremely cold weather when a single battery needs to power multiple modules. For example, a 12V car battery kept in warm conditions such as a vehicle can power a high quantity of modules wired in parallel to the battery.

*If your own an 18M with the 9V only power option, you can upgrade the unit to the LiPo and 12-24V External Power option by purchasing the 18M LiPo Upgrade Kit.

*If you own 18Ms running hardware A (sold prior to June 2015), the battery operation is 50% of what is specified. For more information on hardware versions, see Hardware Hammered Out.
