The SYNC LED is blinking on my 18R2, what does this mean?

The SYNC LED blinks each time the 18R2 sends a ping to all devices. Think of this as a heartbeat from the 18R2 that tells all units that their master controller is on and communicating with them. The blinking indicates successful communication between the two devices and is a sign that the system is performing as it should. Note that when the controller is in TEST mode, the SYNC LEDs may blink at varying times on the devices and not in perfect harmony. When the controller is in ARM mode, the devices SYNC LED will blink consistently with the controller; this is by design and is the normal operation of the system.
