The "PAU" display on your COBRA 18R2 controller indicates that the device is in "pause" mode. This typically occurs when you've initiated a script and the system is awaiting further input to start the show. This is a normal part of the controller's operation when your script used the Deadman control, confirmation button, or SMPTE.
Here are some common scenarios where you might see the "PAU" display, and what you need to do:
Deadman Control
The Deadman Control is a safety feature that requires continuous physical engagement to keep the show running. If your system is set up to use a Deadman Control and you start a script, the controller will display "PAU" until you engage the Deadman Control. Once you do, the "PAU" display will disappear and the script will start running. If at any point during the show you disengage the Deadman Control, the system will pause and the controller will display "PAU" again.
Confirmation Button
If your system is set up to require a confirmation button to be pressed before starting a show, the controller will display "PAU" when you start a script. To proceed, you need to press the confirmation button on the controller. Once you do, the "PAU" display will disappear and the script will start running.
SMPTE
SMPTE (pronounced "simpty") is a protocol used for synchronizing audio and visual elements, such as music and fireworks. If you're using SMPTE to synchronize your show and you start a script, the controller will display "PAU" until it receives the SMPTE signal. Once the signal is received, the "PAU" display will disappear and the script will start running.
