Why does my module display “90MB.s19” instead of updating?

There are two hardware versions of the 36M and 72M, hardware A and hardware B. While there are no functional differences between these two hardware versions, they do require unique firmware files. During the firmware update process, if the correct file is not on the USB drive, the module will indicate this on the LCD display.

Once you have performed the initial firmware update to your module using the Wireless Reprogrammer, the COBRA Wireless Reprogrammer software (CRS) asks which drive to copy the .s19 firmware files onto. If you accidentally pick the wrong one—like an external HDD, another USB slot, or a memory‑card reader—the .s19 files go there instead of your supplied USB thumb drive. Then, when you plug that thumb drive into your module, it can’t find the files and shows “90MB.s19” on the screen.

How to fix it:

  1. In CRS, double‑check the drive letter/name before hitting “Copy.”
  2. After the copy completes, open that same USB thumb drive in your OS and confirm you see 90M.S19 and 90MB.s19in the root directory (no folders or ZIPs).
  3. Eject that thumb drive properly, then insert it into your module, and proceed normally.
