COBRA Firmware Version 5.1.3 Stable Release Candidate

5.1.3 firmware has been replaced by 5.1.4.
Please note 5.1.3 does not support the Gen 2 Audio Box and firmware 5.1.4 is required.

5.1.3 is a patch release to 5.1.2/5.1.1 firmware. While it's possible there is another minor patch to the 5.1 firmware series, if no further patches occur, this version will become our final stable release. For more information, please see COBRA Firmware Release Process.

To upgrade to 5.1.3, only the 18R2 and Audio Box s19 files require an update. Please reference the instructions at the bottom of this article to learn how.

18R2 Improvements and Fixes

STEP events are no longer supported in scripts with SMPTE enabled. This is due to STEP events pausing the script, which conflicts with the design of SMPTE to continually fire as time progresses. If a SMPTE event is recognized in a STEP script while loading a script into the 18R2, error 57 is now displayed for each STEP event.

In rare cases, 18R2s would intermittently not initially SYNC a COBRA device. This has been resolved and no longer occurs.

A few customers reported issues with loading scripts on Command Centers with COBRA-certified USB drives. We found the issue was related to the time at which the 18R2 was trying to connect to the Control Panel through the OTG board after being powered on. We were able to resolve this issue as the Command Center now successfully loads scripts from the USB drive after startup every time.

In rare cases, pressing a button on the 18R2 could register as pressing two buttons on the 18R2. A critical fix to this was released in 2019. Out of an abundance of precaution, we added further protection against this use case to account for any tolerances due to a potential client report of the same issue.

Audio Box Timing Adjustment

The Audio Box timing has been adjusted slightly for both Hardware A and Hardware B Audio Boxes in order to better align with the 18R2.

How to upgrade to 5.1.3?

1) Download the S19 files attached to this article.

2) Move the S19 files to your USB Drive.

3) Insert the USB Drive into the 18R2 or Audio Box while the unit is OFF.

4) Hold SYNC and power on the unit.

5) The LEDs on the 18R2 will spin around for a few seconds, or the Audio Box SYNC LED will blink rapidly.

6) After the LEDs stop, power the unit off and back on again to confirm 5.1.3 has been successfully loaded onto the unit.
