While not required to maintain your COBRA Limited Lifetime Warranty, here are a few recommended maintenance tips for your COBRA modules.
- Remove batteries, inspect contacts to ensure no corrosion or visual damage.
- For battery best practices please see COBRA Lipo Batteries Best Practices and Procedures
- Confirm battery contacts are bowed out at a similar distance and that the batteries snap in tightly.
- Check all buttons to confirm none are sticking and that they bounce back after release.
- Check all LEDs and 7-segment displays. Note that if an LED or 7-segment display bar is not functioning, the unit will still operate normally.
- Check the antenna connector and confirm there is no corrosion or damage. Ensure the antenna screws on smoothly, and the antenna connector does not rotate freely.
- For the 36M and 72M, confirm the USB connector or other connectors are not damaged, corroded, or have any physical issues.
- For any cue strips, DB25, CEN50, or Quick Plug connectors, use a coarse paintbrush to remove any debris. For cleaning, do not use any chemicals, a damp, wet cloth is sufficient.
- Check system signal - Confirm modules are operating within specifications and conduct a signal test at 100'. Normal signal operations at 100' are -40 to -65 (Or better) on firmware 5.1.x or higher. If you are seeing signal values higher contact help@cobrafiringsystems.com as there can be variances within transivers that do not translate to significantly worse signals at further distances. Please see our module support document on how to conduct system signal tests.
- Confirm the battery door snaps on and off correctly.
- Store in a dry, room-temperature environment.
