Issue Description
When connecting your COBRA 18R2 remote to CSO (Cobra Show Operator) in Google Chrome, you might see a "could not connect remote" error or "no controller connected" even if:
- Cobra Agent is running and connected
- The remote is properly connected via USB
- Your computer recognizes the remote as a serial device
- Firmware is up to date
Root Cause
This issue is usually caused by Chrome browser extensions that block the connection between the CSO user interface and your remote, such as:
- Ad blockers
- HTML5 blockers
- Privacy extensions
- Script blockers
Solution
Quick Fix: Use Incognito Mode
Try Chrome’s incognito mode, which disables extensions:
- Open Google Chrome
- Click the three dots in the top-right corner (⋮)
- Select "New Incognito Window"
- Windows shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+N
- Mac shortcut: Cmd+Shift+N
- Go to the CSO website in the incognito window
- Try connecting your remote again
If it works in incognito mode, an extension is causing the issue.
Permanent Fix: Find the Problem Extension
To use CSO in your normal browser:
- Return to Chrome (not incognito)
- Go to Settings → Extensions (or type
chrome://extensionsin the address bar) - Disable extensions one at a time
- After each, refresh the CSO page and test the connection
- When it works, you’ve found the problem extension
- Keep that extension disabled for CSO, or find an alternative
System Requirements Reminder
- Browser: Google Chrome (required for CSO)
- Operating System: Windows 11 compatible
- Connection: USB-A to USB-A cable
- Firmware: Make sure your 18R2 and modules have firmware 6.1. or higher.
