How Do I Connect My COBRA Remote to My Computer for Show Operator?

Connecting your COBRA 18R2 or 18R3 Controller to your computer is required to use COBRA Show Operator (CSO). This connection allows CSO to communicate directly with your COBRA hardware through the COBRA Agent application.

Required Cable

The cable you need depends on which COBRA controller you are using:

  • 18R2: The 18R2 has a female USB-A port, so you will need a USB-A to USB-A cable.
    • If your computer has a standard USB-A port, use the included USB-A to USB-A cable.
    • If your computer only has USB-C ports, use the included USB-A to USB-A cable with a USB-C adapter, or any USB-C to Male USB-A cable that supports data transfer will work.
  • 18R3: The 18R3 has a USB-C port, which supports two cable options:
    • USB-C to USB-A cable if your computer has a standard USB-A port.
    • USB-C to USB-C cable if your computer has a USB-C port.

All 18R2 remotes shipped in the past four years include the required USB-A to USB-A cable in the box. If you need to purchase a replacement, you can order the Control Panel OTG Harness from the COBRA website.

Steps to Connect

  1. Connect one end of the cable to your controller and the other end to your computer.
  2. Power on the controller and wait a few seconds for your computer to recognize it.
  3. Verify that the COBRA Agent is installed and running in your system tray (Windows) or menu bar (Mac).
  4. Open Google Chrome and go to https://operator.cobrashowcreator.com.
  5. Confirm that CSO detects the connected controller by checking that it appears on the Device List screen.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Ensure the COBRA Agent is running by looking for its icon in the tray or menu bar.
  • Try a different cable or port if the controller isn’t detected.
  • If using a USB-C adapter with the 18R2, make sure it supports data transfer, not just charging.
  • Restart the COBRA Agent or refresh the CSO browser page if the connection does not appear.
  • Verify that your controller is running firmware version 6.1 or higher, which is required for CSO compatibility.
