What File System Type does COBRA Support?

COBRA Firing Systems File System Support

COBRA's 18R2, Audio Box, 36M Firing Module, and 72M Firing Module are designed to work with the legacy MS-DOS FAT32 file system. This compatibility ensures reliable and accessible file handling for your firing system components. COBRA does not currently support any device partitioning or alternative file format types.

Formatting Instructions for MS-DOS FAT

Here's how to format a storage device (like a USB drive) to MS-DOS FAT for use with your COBRA system:

Important Note: Formatting will erase all data on the storage device. Back up any important files before proceeding.

macOS Formatting Instructions

  1. Connect your storage device to your Mac computer.
  2. Open Disk Utility which can be found in the Applications/Utilities folder.
  3. Locate your storage device in the Disk Utility list.
  4. Click the Erase button.
  5. From the "Format" dropdown menu, choose MS-DOS (FAT).
  6. Give your storage device a name (optional)
  7. Click Erase to start the formatting process.

Windows Formatting Instructions

  1. Connect your storage device to your Windows computer.
  2. Open File Explorer and locate your storage device.
  3. Right-click on the drive and select Format.
  4. In the "File System" dropdown, select FAT32.
    • Note: Older versions of Windows may only offer 'FAT' as the option. This is equivalent to FAT32.
