How to create an exception for COBRA Reprogramming Software within antivirus software

For the COBRA Reprogramming software to operate correctly, it may be necessary to add the software as an exception to your antivirus program. If you are experiencing issues with CRS not starting correctly or displaying no spy files found please complete the steps below.

McAfee Anti-Virus:

Legacy Windows User Interface:

  1.     Open your McAfee security software.
  2.     Click PC Security.
  3.     Click Real-Time Scanning.
  4.     Click Excluded Files.
  5.     Click Add file.
  6.     Browse to, and select, the file that you want to exclude from Real-Time scanning.
  7.     Repeat the process as needed to exclude multiple files from being scanned.

New Windows Interface:

  1.     Open your McAfee security software.
  2.     Click the settings gear icon at the top-right of the screen.
  3.     Under PC Settings, click Real-Time Scanning.
  4.     Under Excluded Files, click Add file.
  5.     Browse to, and select, the file that you want to exclude from Real-Time scanning.
  6.     Repeat the process as needed to exclude multiple files from being scanned.

Norton Anti-Virus:

  1.     If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

  3.     In the Settings window, click Antivirus.
  4.     In the Antivirus settings window, click the Scans and Risks tab.
  5.     Under Exclusions / Low Risks, do one of the following:

  7.     In the Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect, Script Control, SONAR and Download Intelligence Detection row, click Configure.
  8.     In the window that appears, click Add Folders or Add Files.
  9.     You can assign exclusions to local drives, folders, groups of files, single files, or network drives. However, Norton does not support exclusions for files on a network. If you add a network drive to the exclusion list,            make sure that the drive is connected to your computer.
  10.     In the Add Item dialog box, click the browse icon.
  11.     In the dialog box that appears, select the item that you want to exclude from the scan.
  12.     When you add folders, you can specify whether to include or exclude subfolders.
  13.     Click OK.
  14.     In the Add Item dialog box, click OK.
  15.     In the window that appears, click Apply and then click OK.

  6. Alternatively, you can navigate to the folder by clicking the browse button in the right side of the interface, select it and click on OK.
  7. Turn on the switch next to the protection feature that should not scan the folder. There are three options.
    1. Antivirus
    2. Online Threat Prevention
    3. Advanced Threat Defense
  8. Click Save to save the changes and close the window.

Windows Defender:

    1.    Go to Start  > Settings  > Update & Security  > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.

    2.    Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings, and then under Exclusions, select Add or remove exclusions.

    3.    Select Add an exclusion, and then select from files, folders, file types, or process. A folder exclusion will apply to all subfolders within the folder as well.
