Does my equipment need to be running the same firmware to function?

A commonly asked question is if your firmware needs to match on your COBRA equipment in order for it to operate correctly. The answer is yes, the base version needs to be the same on all equipment (please note that the 18R running 1.4.7 does not apply to this rule).
